Cap Structure at Medical Glossary

What is it? A specialized nucleotide structure present at the 5 end of mRNA consisting of a methlyguanosine residue linked by a triphosphate bridge to the 5 end of the RNA. The cap protects the structure and facilitates transcription initiation.
